Central Ohio Rink on a Sloped Backyard starstarstarstar

Submitted Mon Dec 03 15:00:31 2012 EST By: Chris Engle, Clinton, New York USA

Even though I've been told not to try this (building on a slope and as far south as Central Ohio), this is my 4th year with a backyard rink and I'm certain that I'll keep doing this as long as I'm still physically able to do it. The Boisvert Arena Story starstarstarstar

Submitted Sat Mar 12 08:53:13 2011 EST By: Jim Boisvert, Whitewater, Wisconsin USA

I have always loved to skate and play hockey ever since I was tossed onto a sheet of lake ice, wearing a pair of double-runners,by my dad way back when I was about 5 years old. I was hooked!

And sure enough the saying from the movie, "Field of Dreams", "If you build it, they will come" became reality.

We had a backyard rink when I was growing up. I was fortunate enough to have a father who really knew how to make it work. He is a self employed contractor who does a little bit of everything, and takes a lot of pride in his work, as he did with our rink.
